What Is Rhodium Plating? Rhodium is a rare precious metal from the platinum family. When applied as a thin layer over sterling silver, it creates an ultra-bright, white-silver finish that's highly resistant to scratches and tarnish. It's the finish used on most white gold jewelry.
What Is 18K Gold Plating? 18K gold plating applies a layer of 18-karat gold over the sterling silver base. This gives the piece a warm, rich golden tone — the same look as solid gold jewelry, at a fraction of the price.
